Illinois Marathon

I took up running with no intent on doing anything, but exercise and this lead to training for a Marathon. I ran the Inaugural Illinois Marathon on 4/11/09 and finished 4:03:39. Looking forward to improving my time at the Inaugural Seattle Marathon on June 27th.

Thursday at the Outer Banks

Well, today we took our time to get to the beach and spent most of the day soaking in the rays and watching the waves crash ashore. Later in the day, Jean and I went kayaking, and now we're reading to get pizza. Michelle, Jim and Ken stayed on the beach. Tomorrow, Friday, the rain is supposed to hit and we'll be busy packing and cleaning up the house in prep for our return. Although, that will be a bucket of joy as we'll be in rain most of the time.

Sunset at the Outer Banks

We took the ferry back to Hatteras and got to enjoy this wonderful sunset.

Anniversary - 3 - 2 and almost 1

On September 3rd, 2005, Michelle and I met on eHarmony. One year later, on September 3rd, 2006, I proposed, and on October 13th, 2007 we were married.

We had a great day at the beach today, too.

Night Time

This is the view from the house at night. This is facing west.

Yes Carolyn, those are reading glasses

We're still hanging out on the beach and yep, catching the rays and reading books.

Trial and Error

Jean's niece's boyfriend rented a surf sail or whatever they call those things. It was not a pleasant adventure as we had to row out to rescue him a number of times, because he could not turn around and come back.

Closer to shore, Michelle gave it a try. She did okay.

Into the Sound

The waves and rip tide on the Atlantic were pretty rough so we went to the other side - aka the sound. We just sat in the sun and use the kayak - long boat.

The Pier

From where we are staying the pier is about a mile and a quarter one way. We plan to walk this daily. I ran this morning and got in a couple of miles. We expect the beaches to be fairly empty tomorrow as most people will start heading home from the labor day holiday.

Hope all is well with everyone.

Back to the Outer Banks 2008

Well, one year ago today we were here for the first time for Labor Day weekend, but this time we're hear for an entire week. Although, the hurricane Hanna may be heading this way and we may need to leave early - we shall see.

Here we are at the beach.

My Princess Grace

One of the rooms near us called the "Princess Grace". Michelle is my little Princess Grace (most days... :) )

Our inside joke.

Well, this may be the last entry as we are packing and flying back tomorrow. We get home late - 9-10pm'ish.

Thanks for reading.

Michelle and Rodney "Jackson"

Trinity College _ Book of Kells

We didn't do much today. Visited the Book of Kells, walked through Stephen Green Park, visited several museums: Art and History. Spent a few times in our "special" room drinking tea and eating crumpets (sp).

Here right now for some light snacks as we may head out to the pub, Foley's for a little music and food.

Our feet hurt from all the walking.

Hello, Mister Jackson

Yes, I've become Mr. Jackson at the hotel, but I'll accept it for now. Too hard to explain to them that Michelle booked the room long before we were married, etc. Probably too confusing to have to explain it. Therefore, you may call me, Mr. Rodney Jackson, at least for a few days.

Hope you like this photo. After dinner we came up to our room to find these swans made out of towels on our bed with flower petals all over the room.

And of course, more chocolate.
We are getting spoiled.
Today, Saturday we're heading up to Trinity college and museums in our vacinity.

:)
